We just got back from Emma’s fourth month doctor’s appointment. She is in the 75% for her weight, height and head growth. She now weighs 14 lbs. 10 oz. and is 23 3/4 inches tall. She had to have four shots. She squealed for all of two seconds and then totally calmed down. The nurse said she was great! We already knew that, though! Emma can now eat a few solids. I am supposed to start out small with rice cereal mixed with breast milk. I made her a little bit last night and she LOVED it. The doctor’s literature told me that babies this age should be in their bed and in their room at night. So, we are working on that. I put her on her back last night and she slept from 10-1AM on her back. I think she will get the hang of it. Just pray for patience on my part because I don’t enjoy getting up in the wee hours! All in all, I am soo thankful for a healthy, happy baby. We love our precious Emma!

We never got any pictures of Emma in the snow. The accumulation wasn’t much so it wasn’t going to make a good picture. I did take some pictures and video of Emma today though. She is officially 4 months old now. We did take a trip down to Florida to see her Grandpa Bailey last week. I have some pictures from that, too. I just have to find the CD that I packed up somewhere.

Emma loves to stand up now. Any chance she gets she is wanting you to pull her up. I think she may walk before she crawls. Who knows! Anyways, check the four month picture link because I added photos there and I will be adding more videos today also. Of course, it takes Google a while to review them.

Today was Emma’s first snow. We didn’t get any pictures because she woke up on the wrong side of the crib this morning. But, it is supposed to snow this weekend and we will see if we can’t get a few pictures then.

Also, Emma loves to stand up on our laps now. She has always enjoyed this for small periods of time. But, last night, she stood on her dad’s lap for a long time. She has no balance so Richard had to keep his hands on either side of her (but not on her) to keep her upright. She just stood there and talked and talked. I am going to try and get some video of this tonight. We will see!

Before I was a Mom I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn’t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom – I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t want to put it down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom – I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn’t know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom – I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known The Warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The Wonderment or The Satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

And before I was a Grandma, I didn’t know that all those “Mom” feelings more than doubled when you see that l ittle bundle being held by “your baby”…

And remember that behind every successful mother… is a basket of dirty laundry.
